The book of Romans is Paul's masterpiece. Written near the end of his life, it's the summation of the Christian faith. But as you read it more closely you can see two parts emerge: the first asks, "What is the Good News?" and the second asks "What does this mean for me?". But in between these two parts is an interlude - where Paul begins to construct the bridge to go from the former to the latter. That bridge is the Sovereignty of God. Join us over four weeks, as we break down this linchpin of faith. Based on Romans 8:1-17 and was preached at Trinity, Grenfell on 27 July, 2014

We live in the information age. Everything we want to know about anything is at our fingertips. But in some ways this has produced an arrogance of knowledge that has crept into our life as a church. But sometimes there are questions that Google can't answer. We need the church because sometimes we don't have the answers, and that needs to be ok. This is the fourth part of our Lifestorms series and was preached at Trinity, Grenfell on 15 June. It is based on 2 Timothy 1:6-12.

Christianity is full of paradoxes: Jesus Christ, fully God and fully human; The sovereignty of God and human free will; Salvation by Grace alone, through faith alone - but faith without works is dead? Grief and Good News. These kind of tensions tend to make us want to let go of something, but it is this very tension that makes the Christian faith as rich as it is. We need the Church because Grief and Gospel are too hard to hold onto together. This is the third part of our Lifestorms series and was preached on 8 June at Trinity Grenfell. It is based on 1 Thessalonians 4:9-18

It's said that in the next fifty years, we're going to lose bananas, fish, and any other species on the endangered list because the diversity they need to survive isn't there anymore. God's plan for his church was to have it be diverse enough that it could take a hit on one side and continue on Mission regardless. We need the church because without it, sometimes family isn't enough. This is the second part in our Lifestorms series, and was preached at Trinity, Grenfell on 1 June and was based on Matthew 12:43-49

Anyone who has ever found themselves on the face of tragedy has had to confront this basic truth: sometimes bad things happen. But what if the reality is deeper than that? What if the world we want to live in (a world where people are generally good, and where safety is guarunteed) is nothing but fantasy? This is the first part of this series, exploring why we can't be Christians on our own and why we need the Church. It is based on Matthew 16:18 and was preached at Trinity, Grenfell on 25 May, 2014

Some people will tell you that you don't need a Mission Statement - that that's what the Great Commission is for. But when Jesus stands up in the Synagogue, he outlines what he was put on Earth to do. So why should we be any different? Our Mission Statement at Trinity is "using our gifts from God to serve all with Grace and Mercy" and this series is designed to break that sentence down into its essential components and show how all the parts work together. But before we can get there, we need to understand something about the nature of Mission statements - where they come from, how they're used, and what our responsibility is with them. Preached at Trinity, Grenfell on March 16, 2014 Based on Luke 4:16-30

You want me to what? Of all the crazy things that God calls his people to do, this, in a lot of ways, seems like the most challenging. It seems like an awful burden to hang on one person - but the beautiful reality is that there is another angle that we miss when we ask the question this way. There's another hook that this hangs on, and in framing the question the right way, there is freedom, joy and Grace. Preached at Trinity, Grenfell on 9 March, 2014

Being Double Minded isn't the same thing as Schizophrenia. In fact, it's way more common than we might even realize. But what happens when we apply that same pattern of behavior to our spiritual lives can be a disaster. James warns us to be a people of single-minded devotion, but not to let that consume us to the point where we simply become hearers and not doers. Preached at Trinity, Grenfell on February 9th
