0 Comments On Mission (Part 1) - The Call to Mission
Posted by Trinity Presbyterian Church on March 19, 2014 at 3:33 PM

Some people will tell you that you don't need a Mission Statement - that that's what the Great Commission is for. But when Jesus stands up in the Synagogue, he outlines what he was put on Earth to do. So why should we be any different?

Our Mission Statement at Trinity is "using our gifts from God to serve all with Grace and Mercy" and this series is designed to break that sentence down into its essential components and show how all the parts work together.

But before we can get there, we need to understand something about the nature of Mission statements - where they come from, how they're used, and what our responsibility is with them.

0 Comments Grab Bag - How am I supposed to love God with ALL my heart, soul, mind, AND strength?
Posted by Trinity Presbyterian Church on March 12, 2014 at 5:29 PM

You want me to what? Of all the crazy things that God calls his people to do, this, in a lot of ways, seems like the most challenging. It seems like an awful burden to hang on one person - but the beautiful reality is that there is another angle that we miss when we ask the question this way. There's another hook that this hangs on, and in framing the question the right way, there is freedom, joy and Grace.

Posted by Trinity Presbyterian Church on February 26, 2014 at 4:45 PM

Nehemiah tells our story. There's lots of ways that we're broken and crumbling. But God has a plan to rebuild us, our walls, our families and place his security around us.

Posted by Trinity Presbyterian Church on February 26, 2014 at 4:38 PM

What do you think of when someone asks you what your last morning will be like? Does it fill you with dread? Despair? Fear? Hope? Peace? God's story ends with a picture of a new Heaven and a New Earth where there's not only no more pain or suffering, but no more sun or night. Morning forever.

0 Comments Grab Bag - What does Jame mean by "double minded" (1:8)
Posted by Trinity Presbyterian Church on February 18, 2014 at 6:50 PM

Being Double Minded isn't the same thing as Schizophrenia. In fact, it's way more common than we might even realize. But what happens when we apply that same pattern of behavior to our spiritual lives can be a disaster. James warns us to be a people of single-minded devotion, but not to let that consume us to the point where we simply become hearers and not doers.

0 Comments Grab Bag - Help me understand the book of Daniel
Posted by Trinity Presbyterian Church on February 18, 2014 at 6:46 PM

Daniel is a phenomenally complicated book, and asking to sum up any book in the Bible is tricky business. But Daniel does have this going for it: a thread runs throughout the entire book that helps us understand it. You aren't where you're supposed to be. The challenge of Daniel is ultimately to live like a citizen of another Kingdom.

Posted by Trinity Presbyterian Church on January 24, 2014 at 6:50 PM

You don't need much evidence to see that we live in a dark world. All around us, the innocent suffer and evil seems to win way too often. But Paul provides us with a vaccine against what he calls the darkness of this present age. "Put on the full armour of God so that you can stand."

0 Comments Grab Bag - What is the Church?
Posted by Trinity Presbyterian Church on January 16, 2014 at 9:44 PM

What is the Church?

This was one of Trinity's most asked questions, and it was approached in a lot of different ways. All of it though stems from this central truth: the church isn't a place. It is a people. A people called out for a purpose. Everything we know and feel about the church stems from this vital church. I am the Church; You are the Church; We are the Church together.

0 Comments Prayer By Numbers (Part 4) - Prayer Revitalizes
Posted by Trinity Presbyterian Church on October 24, 2013 at 2:48 PM

We've been building something together. For the last three weeks we've heard Jesus help us assemble a skeleton. Now we're going to start putting some meat on the bones. If the Lord's Prayer is the answer to how should we pray, these three examples from the life of Jesus answer the question: when should we pray?
